DESCRIPTION: The Stanford University Singers is a mixed-voice repertory chorus which performs a broad range of choral literature from the Renaissance through the 20th-century. Participation is open to all members of the Stanford community by audition.

REPERTOIRE: Unaccompanied repertoire from the German and British Romantic period

ATTENDANCE: Attendance at all rehearsals, dress rehearsals and performances is mandatory, as grading is based primarily on attendance and participation. You must notify the instructor in advance if for any reason you must miss all or part of a rehearsal. Absences will be excused only for reasons of personal health, family emergency, or events of an equally serious nature. Every two unexcused absences may result in the lowering of the final grade by one letter.

EXPECTATIONS: Each singer is expected to learn the music assigned for each rehearsal on his or her own. Beyond the first reading of a work, rehearsal time will be devoted to the development of ensemble sound, interpretation, and other musical matters. It is further expected that each singer will make a reasonable effort to develop his or her own vocal skills, and will make every effort to contribute in a positive manner to the work of the group.

be ready to start at 7pm, i.e. arrive at 6:50 or thereabouts.

Concert Start Time

Hey gang,

Just wanted to confirm that the start time tomorrow for the concert is 8pm.

Note from Robert

Dear friends,

Thanks so much for your work last night. A successful rehearsal.

OK, a couple of things:

1. 7pm call tomorrow night. We start at 7pm. If you are late, 
prepare to suffer.
2. Sopranos, in the Appalachian thingy, don't oversing. Keep it 
simple and keep it quiet. Oh,
 singing in tune is always a good thing. Watch those descending figures.
3. I had a really nice email from Frank who was very happy with 
the way things went.

Tonight: Dress Rehearsal 7:15pm at MemChu

Dear friends,

OK, tonight is the dress rehearsal!!! Yippee!!!

Don't forget that, although it's called a dress rehearsal, you don't
have to come in concert dress. You may appear in togas, cocktail
dresses (sequins, please), bin liners, hallowe'en costumes, fig
leaves, polo shirts, loincloths, t-shirts, jeans, shorts, hiking
boots, Birks, bare feet, top hat, wedding gown, three-piece
pinstriped lounge suit, bath robes, carpet slippers, academic dress,
alb, cassock, surplice, stole, feather boa, but not concert attire:
save that for the concert.

We will start slightly later, at 7:15. Please appear as warmed-up as
you can. I don't want to spend too much time on warm-ups. Be prepared
for a lot of hard work. Do remember that this rehearsal is scheduled
to run until 10pm.
